Fulham is a great place to visit if you enjoy retail therapy; though as each area has a different character its worth getting some advice on where is best to shop before you do. That's where our Fulham Estate Agents
come in! If you enjoy shopping for homeware, Wandsworth Bridge Road is the destination for you; purveyors of antique, contemporary and bespoke furniture line the streets alongside restaurants and delicatessens. Lille Road, which connects the popular Munster Road residential area with West Brompton station, is another great place to hunt for vintage finds.
Parsons Green's high street combines charm and convenience, with national chain stores and elegant independent stockists sitting side by side. Bayley & Sage
is a delicatessen and gourmet-food store, offering the best fresh, seasonal produce, cheese, artisan breads, pastries and amazing home-cooked food. You can find two of their stores in Fulham & Parsons Green. A shopping trip through Parsons Green can be punctuated by a trip to the much loved White Horse
pub, fondly nicknamed 'The Sloany Pony' by locals. Vagabond Wines
is an independent, award-winning wine bar and shop with hundreds of wines to try from all over the world. What makes Vagabond stand out is their focus on providing great wines from lesser know regions so you will always find something new! Vagabond has four different locations across London including one in Fulham and Clapham. Check out their calendar for regular delightful theme-based wine tastings.
Those who enjoy farmers markets will no doubt enjoy exploring Parson's Green Market
, which brings local vegetables, meats, delicacies to SW6 on the last day of the week. Also on Sundays, Bishops Park comes alive with the smell of fresh local produce from the Farmer's and Fine Foods Market
- the perfect accompaniment to visit to Fulham Palace. If you're looking for a reliable daily market you can find fresh produce, homeware and international cuisine at North End Road Market
, a London market stalwart which has been running since 1880 and which opens Monday to Saturday.
If your shopping list is long and varied, or if you'd like to combine your shopping trip with a visit to the cinema, the area surrounding Fulham Broadway station is the place for you. This part of town is home combination of well known brands and independent stores and restaurants - you can find almost anything you need here on the way to the tube. Fulham is also well served by supermarkets, including Sainsbury's
, Marks & Spencer
and Whole Foods
near Fulham Broadway station and a Tesco beside Imperial Wharf.
Transport links to Fulham are plentiful, which is one of the reasons many move here. This is an extremely convenient part of the Capital in which to live, linking as it does to Kensington, Piccadilly and Victoria with ease and speed via Fulham Broadway and Parsons Green stations on the London Underground's District Line
. In the other direction trains run to Wimbledon (with its connections to Richmond, Kingston and beyond) every few minutes.
At the riverside, Imperial Wharf Overground station
provides the fastest link in the area to major hub Clapham Junction, from where trains run regularly to Gatwick Airport, Brighton, Portsmouth, Luton and of course London Bridge and Victoria. Trains also run every ten minutes to Shepherd's Bush and regularly direct trains connect Imperial Wharf with Croydon and Watford.
A great number of London bus routes make stops in Fulham, with many finding it useful to take the number 14, which runs from Fulham Broadway to Putney Heath in one direction and Picadilly Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Warren Street in the other, 24 hours a day. Another popular route, the 414, passes Kensington and Knightsbridge on the way to Warwick Avenue. Other routes in the Fulham area connect to Ladbroke Grove, Liverpool Street, Notting Hill, Kew and Richmond.
With such a central location, walking and cycling are viable transport options for many Fulham residents. Cycle routes connect Fulham with Sloane Square, Battersea and Victoria, Clapham Junction and beyond, while the Thames footpath makes for pleasant weekend walking.
